Emboss Me! Quick Card Ideas

Hey All!!!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!! I sure did! I enjoyed family and friends. My children were quite the happy campers as well, lol! After all the festivities, I had some down time. Want to guess what I used it for? Crafting - of course! I was in a card making mood and came up with three quick and easily duplicable cards! I wanted to play around with dry embossing. I used the Sizzix Trellis & Swirls set. I concentrated on the Trellis folder - I really loved that one :)  Here is the first one up:

Yes, I know it's a bit late - but I still have presents and cards to send. So I made a simple card using the embossing folder, some gold stickles, a tiny piece of bling and some wet embossing power in gold as well. I usually don't play with any of these things very much - but I had a ton of fun mixing them all together today! Here is another card that I created:

So cute!!! This one I just let creativity take its course. I love that I added some texture with my homemade version of texture paint.  I used (yes again) the Cheery Lynn French Pastry doily die in the background. The paper is from Prima (Fairy Rhymes).  On top of that I layers a bottle cap, with a piece of the paper collection in the middle, a metal key from Recollections, a laser wooden doily and a butterfly die cut from my stash. A simple piece of seam binding top the tag. I sprayed the seam binding with Shimmerz paint - Treasured Hymn.  Love it!! This is my last card- so cute!

This card really made me smile. I used Perfect Pearls Pigment Powder in Blue Patina to create a simple spray.  I added a TINY bit of blue reinker to add a bit of brightness to the existing shimmer. I LOVE the color. I sprayed the seam binding and the small flowers the the color mixture. Inside the embossed areas - on all the cards - I added stickles. This gives the card a bit o' pop! I used the Tim Holtz caged bird die as my focal point. I tiny blue brad gives the bird a cute little eye. Voila! three completed, quick and easy cards using embossing folders and a few embellishments. Hope you will give it a try!

A 'French Country' Memory Book - G45

Hey all!

Wow this year is zipping pass fast, right? I managed to get MOST of my Christmas shopping done. I made quite a few handmade gifts to give away this year. Can't just let the scrap supplies go to waste. I know I'll want more in the New Year - so I gotta make space, lol!

This brings us to the project at hand, my vertical Graphic45 French Country mini album. This is a design team project for Scrapyland (link on side bar).  I'm giving this item as a gift to a friend. I'm sure she will load it with lots of pictures! This book is 5 pages and has the ability to hold 20 photos (4x6)!! Here is a peek at the book:

I started with black cardstock as my base to build my pages. I had to use score tape to hold this together. I don't want anything falling apart!  The cover is made out of chipboard, with black cardstock over that. I used some silk flowers that I got from my local Dollar Tree - they sure came in handy. I also added some bleached twine to the cluster.  I wanted to keep the cover simple, since the recipient is not a scrapper.  I added some ribbon that I got from a friend; it was part of her packaging. I try to save all things cute to reuse later! It was perfect for this book. The ribbon serves as a closure and is threaded between two eyelets. Here is a close-up:

So cute! I fussy cut some of the G45 French Country paper and layered it on the side to add interest. The side profile is narrow and clean - Love it!

For the back, I simply used a postage shaped die cut. I will use this to be a background for my signature.

Here is a look of the pages. I just used the 4x6 die cut -outs from the collection to layer the front of the pages. Worked out great!

Here is another picture of the book lying on the side. You can see the die cuts a bit better.

As I mentioned earlier, the book can hold 20 photos. There is space on the front and back of the 5 pages - for 10 photos. Then the inserts have spaces for 10 more. There is an option to put journaling on 1 side. Here are the tag inserts:

So that's it guys! I have a clean, simple, quick and easy album for you today. I hope you enjoy it and will try this at home. Please visit Scrapyland (side bar) to get your score tape and the G45 French Country stack! You'll love the papers and the extras!!

Stop by my Facebook page or youtube channel if you can, I'd love to see ya there!

A Pocket Full of Love w/Prima School Memories

Hey all!

OMGosh! I'm so excited to share with you guys this week's project! I made this especially for my daughter, Taylor. She is 13 years old and quite the popular kid at school. I decided to make her a "Love" package to let her know that I am proud of her. Peer pressure can be tough these days, I just wanted to let her know that mom sees her trying and is Happy!

With that being said, I saw a tutorial on YouTube showing a Valentine's project using this same concept. I loved it and had to COPY it for myself. I used the Prima's School Memories paper pad. I love how my project turned out! By the way, I have a video on this project if you prefer to see it in that format. You can find it here.   Let's take a peek:

Taylor just fell in love with it and was so happy that she received something special - made for her. I started out with velum envelopes. I cut a bit off at the top and used it as a pocket using my score tape, on the front of the package. I picked a few flowers from my stash and colored them with my red and black mists. I added some simple black string for interest as well. Using the Prima paper pad, I cut small strips and made them into banners. I love the look of that. I added a cute little Graphic 45 primer paper chip embellishment and some red flat black pearls to fill up the right side of the envelope.

I am also a design team member for The Cutting Cafe. I chose to use three of Regina's files on this project. I used the pinwheel file (later in the project), the coin envelope and the scallop circle set for the front decor of my card. I think it added just enough writing room for what I needed to say. I was gifted that cute little red paper clip heart and red brad off to the side.  I punched out a simple ticket piece and stamped LOVE U on it with my Cat's Eye Ink.  Some white seam binding and a Tim Holtz bingo chip, seal the deal. Here's a peek:

See how the pocket pulls out? Here is a looky at the back of the card and the tag from the coin pocket:

So now, let's move into the goodies! The chocolate part, lol! Inside I made Taylor a bookmark. I used Prima doll stamp pad as my base. I covered it with black cardstock and the Prima School Memories paper pad. I colored the seam binding with my red mist, for a pop of color. Of course I used the French Pastry doily die  by Cheery Lynn Designs - its become a staple in my projects now :) Lastly, I made a bottle cap charm and used a circle piece from the collection as well. I added the pinwheel to the chocolate bar and tied some twine around. I added a few embellishments to the M&M's and stuck that in the pocket. Picture time:

To finish it off, I added design paper to the back of the envelope. I didn't want to leave that out.

Well, what do you think? I love how it turned out - and so does Taylor! Here's a quick wrap-up:

I used The Prima School Memories paper pad, the Cheery Lynn French Country Doily Die, Cat's Eye Pigment Ink by Colorbox, seam binding and Score tape to finish. You can also check the links for other products outside of Scrapyland.

I hope you guys will try this at home. You can use this idea for anything. You'll love creating it and giving it as well.

Please vist me on YouTube, Facebook and Pinterest for more crafty ideas :)

Shabby Chic Mixed Media Tag

Hey guys!!

I'm really excited to share with you all today! I dabbled into mixed media a bit last week for my C.A.S.E. IT CARD TUESDAY series I host on my YouTube channel. I had so much fun playing around with the different art mediums - I had to do it again! There is so much to learn about the art of mixed media. I found a host of tutorials online and decided to give it another go round.

I picked out a paper pad that I thought would work for my tag. I used the infamous Prima Engraver paper pad. When you see it at first glance, you think vintage or grunge. But really, it pretty versatile. Here is a pic of what I created using the paper.

Omg! It's so cute!! I started my base page with a darker color from the collection. I went over that with a coat of Gesso.  I started using my brick mask from Crafter's Companion and some homemade texture paste.  Next, I added beautiful colors. I used Dylusions, Mister Huey's, Lindy's Stamp Gang and Shimmers pPaints to get that perfect backdrop on my tag. Love it!

Next I cut out a doily from my favorite doily die from Cheery Lynn. I cut that in half to use at the top and bottom of my tag. I then cut from the same page design, the daisy topper die cuts. I really liked the layering effect it was causing. Take a peek :)

I wanted to floral arrangement to pop up a bit, so I used foam dots to help with that. I placed them underneath a piece of chipboard I layered with the design paper. I did a quick whitewash on that and added more of the textured brick to it.  I found some adhesive canvas and wood pieces in my stash that had the perfect sentiments on it. On that goes, on top of the chip piece.

I decided to tie some seam binding and add a ribbon buckle and a flat back pearl to the top.  Finally, I added some metal embellishments, crochet doilies, leaves and white pearls to finish the tag.

I absolutely LOVE how this turned out!!! What do you think? I will definitely have my hand in more paint, gesso and paste in the near future, lol!

Don't forget to stop by Scrapyland.com to pick up the Prima Engraver paper pad, the foam dots, the Spellbinders Daisy Topper die, the seam binding and much, much more!!

Thank for stopping by and hope to see you next time!
